(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “Although they [the Americans] have recently claimed that they support people's demands, they in fact seek to misuse these popular movements,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Thursday.
He added that the US aims to obstruct the path of the uprisings, and urged different nations to identify the US plots with insight, and maintain their solidarity and unity.
We hope that the developments move in a direction so as to create a powerful Islamic Middle East against Israel, the Iranian official said.
Commenting on the recent developments in Syria, Mehmanparast said, “Domestic resolutions must be found for Syria's domestic problems and others should not interfere in these issues.”
Referring to “overt and covert interferences” in Syrian developments, the Iranian official said weakening the resistance against Israel was important for the US.
He rejected accusations leveled at Iran about interfering in the internal affairs of countries such as Lebanon and Syria, and said, “We have always announced that we do not meddle in the internal affairs of any country.”
“But, we have said that we support the resistance movement because we believe it is legitimate,” Mehmanparast concluded.
